About Me:
Hello my fellow Zaadzsters. My name is Krishna and I hail from Toronto, Canada.
Throughout my life, I never seemed to fit in. For better or for worse, I wanted to be different and always loved breaking the mould. By the age of sixteen, I had backpacked through most of Western Europe (twice). Needless to say, my parents had given me a lot of freedom. But they also pushed me to pursue anything that I was even remotely passionate about.
On the artistic front, I started taking piano lessons when I was about nine years old. By the time I reached high school, I was still playing the piano while also studying the double bass, bass guitar, violin, and teaching myself the acoustic guitar. What I love about music is its power to communicate some of the most intricate feelings and emotions. It truly is a splendid language.
With a passion for all things artsy, I took up theatre, nay, French theatre, while in high school. On the surface, it was a lot of fun, but it just didn't feed my soul the way music did.
And what would a stint in acting be without a stint in directing? In my last years of high school, I fell in love with film and directed (and wrote, and filmed, and edited) a number of short but funny films with some friends. This eventually led to my pursuing video editing as a pastime.
Now, here's the part in the story where my life takes an unexpected turn. In the summer of 2001, I took a trip to the south of India where I visited an ashram. As I'm sure many before me can confirm, a lot of wondrous things can happen on such trips. It was on this visit that I met a most inspiring soul, Swami Sai Premananda, who would later become my Guruji.
Shortly after returning from India, I went to university to study computer engineering. It was a most unexpected diversion from my artistic pursuits. Somehow, at the time, this choice made a lot of sense to me: I loved math and thought I should take it to the nth degree, so to speak. There's not a whole lot for me to say about engineering other than it burnt out my brain. But it challenged me a great deal and showed me that it is this challenge that often pushes me to reach higher than I could before.
So where am I now? I'm currently involved in a few freelance design projects as I prepare myself to dive head first into the working world. Not surprisingly, life is a whole lot more challenging now. And through it all, I'm still learning to love without constraint, to act with courage and deep humility, and to find oneness in all.
Thanks so much for visiting. Who knows when our paths may cross again. But in the meantime, I pray that you find a feeling of peace and love, and a few people to share it with.
